Undergraduate Program General Information

The Afyon Kocatepe University Geological Engineering Department admits students based on the MF-4 score type. According to the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), for the 2016–2017 academic year, the total general quota was 10, with an additional quota of 1 for the top student, making a total of 11. The minimum score in 2015 was 200.43276, and the maximum score was 242.33648.

Undergraduate Curriculum

Each student admitted to the department is assigned an academic advisor by the department head. Students register for courses with the help and approval of their academic advisors and discuss any issues related to education and training (click here for GPA and course registration criteria). Attendance is mandatory, with students required to attend at least 70% of theoretical classes (4 weeks) and 80% of practical sessions (3 weeks). Since the 2011 academic year, courses on Atatürk’s Principles and History of Reforms, Turkish Language, and Computer Science have been offered via Distance Education, accessible online.

The curriculum includes a total of 60 working days of internship (click here for the department’s internship guide). 45 working days can be completed as institutional internships during the summer following the 4th semester. The remaining 15 working days are completed under the supervision of the department faculty as “Field Geology Applications” at the end of the 6th semester summer term, following the program determined by the department (click here for the department internship implementation guidelines).
