Within the scope of the TÜBİTAK project entitled ‘A Comprehensive Geophysical Study on the Lithospheric Dynamics of Multiple Plate Interactions and Their Relationship with the 2023 Türkiye Earthquakes’, led by Lecturer Dr. Özcan Özyıldırım from the Directorate of the Geothermal and Mineral Resources Application and Research Center (JUAM), Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldız, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Bağcı, and Lecturer Dr. Özcan Özyıldırım visited the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, in the city of Guangzhou to meet with the Chinese project partners and to participate in the China–Turkey Workshop.
At the China–Turkey Workshop, which was also attended by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ümit Avşar, a faculty member of the Department of Geophysical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University and a researcher in the project, presentations introducing our University and the JUAM Directorate were delivered. In addition, information was provided on the projects conducted by our academic staff aimed at revealing the geothermal and marble potential of Afyonkarahisar province and the tectonic structure of the Afyon–Akşehir Graben. In the final part of the visit, views were exchanged with the Chinese counterparts regarding the current status of the jointly conducted TÜBİTAK project, and various departments of the institute were toured.
